The GT trim adds a retractable hardtop over the standard Miata, which pushes its price and insurance cost slightly above the base convertible, yet it still ranks as one of the single most efficient vehicles to own in the entire market. For buyers who assumed a sports car had to come with a high ownership cost, the MX-5 GT is direct evidence otherwise.
