CarCostCX ranked more than 26,000 new SUVs currently listed at Indiana dealerships by complete monthly cost, the combined total of loan payment, insurance, fuel, maintenance, and taxes. Three vehicles stood out clearly above the rest of the field.

The 2026 Chevrolet Trax LT ranks first, at $839 a month against a segment average of $1,438, a savings of 41.6%. At $21,141, its lower sticker price produces a smaller loan payment, the single biggest factor in its advantage. The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT ranks second at $843 a month, just a few dollars behind, with an electric powertrain that keeps fuel costs unusually low at $54 a month. Third place goes to the 2026 Hyundai Venue SE at $847 a month, rounding out a top three where all three vehicles land within eight dollars of each other despite very different powertrains.
What separates these three from the segment average is not any single cost category performing unusually well. It is a lower purchase price across the board, which reduces financing cost more than any other lever. Buyers cross-shopping SUVs on total cost rather than sticker price alone will find these three vehicles the most efficient starting point in the entire category.
