Three small SUVs, the Chevrolet Trax, the electric Chevrolet Bolt, and the Hyundai Venue, finished within eight dollars of each other at the top of CarCostCX's SUV value ranking.
The Complete Monthly Cost Breakdown
The 2026 Chevrolet Trax LT comes in at $839 a month on a $21,141 sticker price. The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT, an electric SUV, comes in at $843 a month on a $28,691 sticker price, with a notably lower fuel cost of $54 a month against the Trax's $221. The 2026 Hyundai Venue SE comes in at $847 a month on a $21,997 sticker price.
The Bolt's higher purchase price is almost entirely offset by its lower fuel and title and registration costs, landing it within a few dollars of the two gas-powered SUVs despite costing roughly $7,500 more to buy. For buyers deciding between these three, the choice comes down to whether the Bolt's electric powertrain and fuel savings are worth the higher upfront price, since the complete monthly cost ends up nearly identical either way.
