Coupes average $1,577 a month in complete monthly cost, among the higher averages CarCostCX tracks, largely due to higher insurance costs on performance-oriented vehicles. Against that average, the 2026 Ford Mustang EcoBoost stands out, coming in at $986 a month, 37.5% below the segment average and a savings of $591 a month.

The Complete Monthly Cost Breakdown

At $30,274, the Mustang EcoBoost's loan payment runs $612 a month. Insurance costs $88 a month, only slightly above the broader market average despite the car's sporting reputation. Fuel comes to $166 a month, maintenance adds $75, and title and registration add $45.

The Toyota GR86 Premium followed at $1,102 a month, and the Subaru BRZ Limited placed third at $1,130. All three prove that a coupe does not have to carry the highest insurance and financing costs in the market, the base EcoBoost trim in particular keeps the Mustang's cost profile close to that of a well-equipped sedan.
